Wrap - More Rocks Than Diamonds

1. Parramatta. Fair dinkum, Ricky stopped 12 short in his axings. Mullaney, Morgan, Allgood, Sandow, Tautai, Lussick, et al. should have gone too. The big question is where will they find more players?

2. Has Reni Matiua actually demonstrated the very reason he should have been sacked in the first place? Self centred, poor attitude. Fancy being too sad to play! Bring back the bloke that got sacked for thumping him pre season.

3. Margaret Court 24 Grand Slams, 22 to Steffi, 18 to Navratalova and 18 to Evert. Serena has 16. Getting there. Imposing and dominant.

Nadal is a phenomenon. If he stays fit, he could be one of the best ever. His record on clay is better than anyone else - ever. A top bloke who is mentally the toughest on tour.

4. Mark Webber. Looked better on the bicycle than behind the wheel. Has the best car in the business and fifth is a familiar result. Not good enough. Vetell is a mile in front. Get ready to hear the Webber stories about how his car has been doctored.

5. Cricket. What the hell is the Champions Trophy? It is not a World Cup right...not 20-20 or tests...where does it fit? Or is it a make believe competition driven by the almighty ICC dollar. The ICC are starting to resemble the great IOC farce and the greater FIFA farce.

David Warner has his cards marked. Another glorious score less than ten. His cut shot is appaling. No feet movement. Wade is gone too. Poor technique and no runs.

A lot to like about Bailey. He should be in the Test team. He's a smart operator, good captain and importantly gets runs. Our problem is the batting. Joe Root looked OK. If he doesn't play well, we all know the headline.

6. Tahs. Solid and steady. A good recovery in 2013. Promise for next year. Can you pick Beale and leave Cooper out? We need both.

7. AFL. GWS. Not fit enough for the top level. Promise a lot and in the end give nothing. Crowds are thinner than a referee's patience with either Nate Myles and Paul Gallen in Origin II.

8. Did you know that Melbourne Storm have a 98 per cent conversion rate from leading at half time and then winning? Phenomenal.

Had to laugh that Cameron Smith is testing the open market. How many dumb CEO's will offer him something? He's going nowhere fast.
